I think people don't participate in politics because they don't have time or they don't feel like their vote will count or they just aren't educated well enough. The main thing that gives everyone the opportunity to participate in politics is voting and elections and that's because in Canada gives every citizen over the age of 18 to vote for whomever they please in any election. If someone gets asked if they voted or who they voted for, (on average, 40% of Canadians do not vote in federal elections) they will say that they were too busy that night or something was going on, but in reality it is because they are uneducated about all the things that go on in Canada or because they can't make it on time because most elections are held on business days instead of non-working days. I think that every Canadian should know about all the things that go on in our country because it is more likely that the country will be run better by someone who was voted in by people who know what they had been offering and for which reasons they voted for that person, as opposed to someone voted in by half of Canada's population that actually vote, whom of which might not even know what they are voting for. If everyone knew who and what they were voting for, the whole world could be a much better place, especially in those countries who give their people the right to vote for whoever they please.

our simulated country has finally ended. It's near the end of the school year and we didn't have time to have another year, so we had to end it, which was good because every year a lot of people were dying and we wouldn't have lasted much longer anyways. We ran out of power for a lot of things every year except for the last year, so a lot more people died the first 4 years as opposed to the last year, but there were still deaths. I think that our country would have been so much more successful if we had made a power plant the first year, instead of powering the city center and police dept and stuff like that. I didn't win because I didn't really do a whole lot for the whole simulation so in the end I had -10 status points...

This year, just like all the other years, many laws were broken, although some not too serious, but some were serious. We also had a shortage of power because we still don't have a 2nd power generator, which will cost a lot of people their lives, we haven't made any new buildings yet, so no extra units are being produced and no extra living space is available. Overall our country is doing really bad and if we don't pick up the pace on doing the right things, everyone will die fairly soon.
To fix this, i think our government needs to make it clear what their duty is, and fulfill their promises on what they intend to do with the country to help make it prosperous and healthy again. I also think the citizens should step up and stand for whats right instead of letting all the people like Elijah who owns a farm and distributes materials the way he wants to and anyone without a lot of money will not be able to survive (like me) because they didn't get the necessities
